On 13 September 2025, What’s On featured Boubker Benjelloun in its culture section with “Artist spotlight: Architect, Boubker Benjelloun”, written by Leonie Wagner. Rather than a project review, the piece is a portrait of the person behind Benjelloun & Partners and the path that led him to architecture.

From the pool to the skyline

The profile starts in Morocco, where Boubker swam competitively. He tells What’s On that hours in the water were where he first imagined whole cities and skylines, long before he had the tools to build them. His route was not direct: he trained as a dentist, an experience he remembers as a lesson in precision and patience, before real estate development in Casablanca drew him into the design process and reignited his creative ambition.

“I stood in a space I had imagined, now fully built.”

The work

The article highlights COMO Residences on Palm Jumeirah, a tower whose layered terraces spiral upward like a shell carved by the wind, alongside Solara Tower in Downtown Dubai and the Museum of Humanity, where stone and metal are brought together to hold memory and meaning.

Listening before drawing

What’s On describes a philosophy built on listening before drawing: every region has its own rhythm of culture, climate and materials, and a building is treated as part of a living ecosystem. The same thinking runs through The B. Foundation, which has helped rebuild a village in Ethiopia, restoring homes, schools and irrigation, with the aim of restoring self-reliance and dignity.

The piece ends with what Boubker calls Architecture for Humanity: spaces that create a sense of wonder, but also comfort, belonging and dignity for the people who use them.
